Former defender William Gallas has revealed what Premier League club Jose Mourinho should join. The ex-Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham boss was sacked from his position at AS Roma back in January following a run of poor results.
Amid significant pressure on Mauricio Pochettino's job at Stamford Bridge, and given the love affair between Chelsea and Mourinho, return links understandably emerged. In March, two months on from his sacking, Mourinho was quizzed on his plans for the future with it very clear he wanted to return imminently.
«I'm not in rest mode,» he revealed to beIN Sports. «I want to work. I just don't want to make the wrong decision. I have to wait for the right one and the one that motivates me. If I could work tomorrow, I would work tomorrow.»
Speaking to Sky Sports, he added: «I hope [to be back managing soon]. Roma was great to get to two European finals in two years and that's hard. But now I have to wait for the right opportunity. I want to work tomorrow if possible, but I don't want to make the wrong decision.»
Since then, pressure on Pochettino has somewhat decreased with a number of positive results arriving, although an FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester City along with dropped points against Sheffield United and Burnley have clouded over the fact the Blues have lost just once at home since October.
Despite that run of form, talk of Mourinho being back in the Premier League one day remains, with Gallas believing the Chelsea job is still the best fit for him.
