Liverpool fans were forced into a double take when they saw the name Steven Gerrard appear on their Twitter timelines - with a BULGARIAN youngster bearing his name in the Under-17 Euros competition.
Gerrard is undoubtedly one of, if not the best homegrown talent to have played for the Reds in their long history, amassing 710 appearances for the Anfield club with 185 goals to boot. Indeed, there hasn't been a player like him come through the club's youth academy since - and there may not be for quite some time.

A video on X by @FootballReprt shows a video of the Under-17 Euro qualifiers between Bulgaria and Bosnia, with both teams kicking off their qualification bids to confirm a place at the tournament proper.
A volley at the back post was met by a Bulgaria player as he wheeled away in celebration - but his name was what caught fans out. Brilliantly named 'Steven Gerrard Jean Yves Gaote', the video of his goal amassed 2.3million views as fans couldn't believe their eyes at what they were seeing.
Who knows - maybe in the next generation of Bulgarian talents, Steven Gerrard Gaote will be joined by a Trent Alexander-Arnold Gaote? That, for now, remains to be seen.
Gerrard - the 43-year-old, that is - is currently the manager of Al-Ettifaq after accepting an offer from the Saudi Pro League club in the summer. The former England international previously had stints in charge at Aston Villa and Rangers.
