From playing for Buick Memorial Primary School in his native Cullybackey to leading his country out at the Euros, it has been a roller-coaster ride for one of football’s most popular characters.

November 2000: Victory Shield
Steven Davis had his first brush with footballing fame whilst still attending Ballymena Academy.
Alongside future international team-mate Dean Shiels, Davis helped Northern Ireland Schoolboys to Victory Shield glory live on Sky Sports. Chris Kingsberry’s injury-time equaliser against Wales at the Ballymena Showgrounds was enough to give John McKeag’s team the coveted trophy.
May 2002: FA Youth Cup glory
When Everton clashed with Aston Villa in the 2002 FA Youth Cup Final, all the pre-match hype surrounded a young Wayne Rooney. But it was Davis — who had only just joined the Birmingham outfit from St Andrews Boys Club — and his Aston Villa team-mates who stole the headlines, winning 4-2 on aggregate.
September 2004: Pro debut
Davis made his Premier League debut on September 18, 2004, when he replaced Nolberto Solano in the 57th minute of a goalless draw
