Jesse Marsch has claimed he would have liked to see Everton incur a point deduction sooner. In November, the Toffees were docked 10 points for breaching the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules during the period ending season 2021/22.

While the Toffees have been dealt a major blow to their chances of staying in the top flight this term, Marsch believes that the Premier League should have acted sooner after Leeds United 'started to push the button' when the breaches occurred. The Whites were relegated to the Championship the following season before the American boss lost his job at Elland Road in February 2023.
