Three Manchester United players could return from injury vs Tottenham

Luke Shaw could return for Manchester United in their only Premier League game of the month against Tottenham on Sunday.

Shaw has missed the last three games with an unspecified injury but manager Erik ten Hag suggested he could be fit for the visit of Spurs.

United were without 11 players through injury and illness for their 2-0 FA Cup third round win against League One Wigan on Monday evening. Harry Maguire could also be back this weekend after an absence of nearly five weeks and the unwell Christian Eriksen is also in line to be available against his former club.

"Yeah. I think there will be some players (back). I think it's hopeful they can be back at the weekend," Ten Hag said. "I'm talking about Christian Eriksen, potentially Luke Shaw. Harry maybe. Mason (Mount) needs some days more.

"I don't want to be frustrated (with injuries) because I can do nothing for it, it will not help to support the team. So we have to get the best performance and best results with the players available and that's what we're trying to do.

"I think it's always unexpected (absences) but also you have to deal with that and we did. Hopefully, they recover soon and some injuries return.

"We have so many injuries and illnesses but still we put out a strong side. We had a good team, so we were confident before, we must win this game.

"You never underestimate any opponent, definitely not this side. You know they will fight for their life because it's the game of their life, we took the game very good."
