While Timo Werner concedes that he might not be the main goal-scoring figure for Tottenham Hotspur, he recognises how he can contribute to Ange Postecoglou's system — a setup he feels aligns well with his playing style.

This isn't Werner's first rodeo in the Premier League. He signed for Chelsea from RB Leipzig back in 2020 as the Blues triggered his release clause worth £45 million ($62m). At that time, he had made 157 appearances for the Bundesliga side, scoring 93 goals and contributing 40 assists.
But the German could only manage 10 Premier League goals in his two seasons at the London club before returning to Germany as Leipzig paid a £25m ($29m) fee to re-sign him. This season, he lost his starting place with the Bundesliga side.

Although the Spurs boss admitted he had no choice but to start him given their injury crisis, and with Son Heung-min being away at the Asian Cup, Postecoglou was impressed with his new signing's display.
