Chelsea could look to raise millions through player sales to help Mauricio Pochettino improve his squad ahead of the 2024/25 season. The Blues were restricted to what they could do in the January transfer window due to Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR) after spending over £1billion under Todd Boehly.
The American businessman and Clearlake Capital have been controversially active in the market since completing their takeover at Stamford Bridge. According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, three of Chelsea's record arrivals were signed in the last two years in Enzo Fernandez (£106.8m), Moises Caicedo (£115m) and Wesley Fofana (£75m).
Despite business being slow in January, millions are expected to be spent in the summer to further bolster Pochettino's squad. The Blues are struggling for results on the pitch once again this term, sitting 10th in the Premier League.
PSR allows clubs to only lose £105million across a three-year rolling time frame and Chelsea is one club the rest of the Premier League will be watching in the market. If the west Londoners are to spend big at the end of the season, player sales could be a smart avenue to go down.
