Tottenham agree £45m Brennan Johnson transfer as Ange Postecoglou lands priority signing

Tottenham have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest for forward Brennan Johnson, football.london understands.

The 22-year-old will join Ange Postecoglou's side for a deal worth upwards of £45million. It's understood that Johnson will undergo his medical today at Hotspur Way ahead of Friday's 11pm deadline.

Johnson will become signing number nine of the summer in north London following the arrivals of James Maddison, Micky van den Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, Alejo Veliz and Ashley Phillips. Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski also made their initial loan moves permanent earlier in the window.

Spurs' new attacker will arrive at the club on the back of one single season in the Premier League. He scored eight goals and assisted three for Forest last night, playing a key role in keeping the club in the top flight. He has played all three of Forest's opening three games this season.

Johnson was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea and Brentford in the final two weeks of the transfer window. However, Postecoglou is now set to get his priority target in attack to bolster his offensive options.

Postecoglou was asked about Johnson's arrival in his pre-Burnley press conference. He said: «I'm in the position where other people are in control of those matters and I'm not brought into the loop until late on. I don't think it's my place to talk about it. The countdown clock says nine or 10 hours and we'll see what happens.»

With the deadline to register new arrivals for the upcoming weekend, should Johnson complete his medical tests, his debut for the north Londoners will come after the international break against Sheffield United at the
