Tottenham bounced back from conceding a stoppage time goal to Everton with a late show of their own against Brighton this weekend. The Lilywhites were winning 2-1 at Goodison Park until a deep free-kick was turned home by Jarrad Branthwaite which forced the visitors to settle for a point in the race for European football.
In the wake of that draw, much was said about Spurs' fragility in that they have conceded eight goals beyond the 90th minute already this season. It is worth mentioning however, four of those came in November defeats to Chelsea and Wolves which kicked off a shocking spell of form at Spurs with another two losses in three games following those results.
Significant injuries came alongside that winless streak but Spurs' form gradually improved as they welcomed back the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. Since the 2-1 defeat to West Ham in December, Tottenham have picked up 20 points from a possible 27 with Saturday's win against Brighton moving Spurs into the top four.
Pape Matar Sarr cancelled out Pascal Gross' early opener before second half substitute Brennan Johnson bagged the winner in the sixth minute of added time. Another late win for Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is further showcase of character among the Spurs squad.
By the same score line, Tottenham beat Liverpool and Sheffield United with three goals in added time securing five points for Spurs. While it is not a good look that eight goals have been conceded by Spurs, it is worth taking a deeper look into how those goals actually affected the outcome of the game.
