Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to end his first season as Tottenham head coach by guiding the club back into the Champions League. Following a season away from Europe's premier competition and European football altogether after finishing eighth last season, it is imperative that Tottenham ensure they are playing in one of UEFA's club competitions come September 2024.
The Champions League is where everyone wants to be and hopefully that will be the case for Spurs in the 2024/25 season. With 13 games of the Premier League term remaining, Aston Villa and Spurs have been joined by Manchester United in the race for a top-four place.
There is of course the possibility that a fifth-place finish would also achieve Champions League qualification due to the competition expanding by four teams in the group phase from September. An extra place for a Premier League team in next season's Champions League is not a given, though.
Of those four extra places up for grabs, two of those will go to the leagues which collectively perform best across UEFA's three club competitions this term. As things stand, Italy and Germany are currently first and second in the 2023/24 standings.
However, a lot could still change in the second half of the season, with Tottenham, Aston Villa and Manchester United really needing the Premier League teams still involved in Europe to go far in their respective competitions for fifth place in the final table to equal Champions League football. As fifth spot is no guarantee of a place at Europe's top table right now, it really is crucial that those with Champions League aspirations finish in the top four to guarantee their place in the competition.
So how many points are Tottenham, Aston Villa and Manchester United
