Andy Gray has claimed supporters can never feel 'confident' when Timo Werner is bearing down on goal for Tottenham Hotspur. The German forward was on target in Spurs' 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon as Ange Posetecoglou's side came from behind to claim an important three points.
This effort marked Werner's first goal in aTottenham shirt since joining on loan in January from RB Leipzig, and the 27-year-old will be hoping this is the first of many during his temporary stay in north London. Unconvinced this will be the case, former Aston Villa and Everton striker Gray told beINSPORTS: «There are some players who go through, and you just know they are going to score.
»There are others, and Timo Werner is one of those, who you are hoping are going to score. You are not confident he is going to score."
Werner was guilty of wasting opportunities during Saturday's contest before finding the back of the net, though Postecoglou was not at all concerned by the display or the player's overall contribution to the club since arriving.
“I thought Timo, he missed the chance in the first half, but he was a constant threat to them and was in the right area for the goal. I understand that with attacking players, goals make them feel better and make them more confident," said the Australian.
“I guess it relieves the pressure on them a little bit, but just in general, I thought he was really aggressive with his running.
