Tottenham face new potential match postponement with Manchester City game in doubt

Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League fixture schedule could be set for another change in the coming weeks if Manchester City's involvement in the FA Cup continues.

Spurs are already waiting to find out when their match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge will be rescheduled for, the original game this month having been postponed due to Mauricio Pochettino's side taking their place in the Carabao Cup final, which they lost 1-0 after extra-time to Liverpool last weekend.

That derby against the Blues for Tottenham will need to fit into a midweek slot in the remaining weeks of the season but Ange Postecoglou's team now face the possibility of another fixture needing to be switched from its place in April and it's another big game. That's because if Manchester City beat Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium in the FA Cup quarter-finals next month then Pep Guardiola's side would go on to play in the semi-finals on the weekend of April 20.

Spurs are currently set to host City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 20, although that fixture may well have moved slightly around that weekend for television coverage.

That City match currently comes in the middle of a tough run of four consecutive weekends for Tottenham as they face Newcastle, City, Arsenal and then Liverpool all in a row.

There are pros and cons for Ange Postecoglou if the City game is moved. On one hand, it could break up such a tough run of games unless it is moved to a midweek in or around that sequence of fixtures, although City's potential progress in the Champions League could also affect that.
