Tottenham given Richarlison verdict after Man Utd draw amid Harry Kane comparison
Jamie Redknapp has praised Richarlison for his performances in recent weeks — grabbing yet another goal for Tottenham in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford this evening. The Brazilian striker has now scored six goals in his last six Premier League appearances for Spurs.
After selling Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the summer, many felt that Tottenham would struggle to produce the same output in terms of goals throughout the season. The England international left Spurs as the club's all-time top goalscorer before sealing a £100million switch to Bayern.
Son Heung-min has been the main man for Spurs following Kane's departure — scoring 12 goals in 21 games — but is currently away on international duty with South Korea at the Asia Cup. Richarlison has taken responsibility in Son's absence and hit a brilliant vein of form at the right time for Ange Postecoglou.
The Brazil international has now netted eight goals and provided three assists in all competitions and seems to be enjoying life as Spurs' No.9. Redknapp believes Postecoglou deserves praise for his work with Richarlison and helping him rediscover the form he showed that saw him secure a move to Tottenham back in 2022.
«I don't think he’ll get you 25 goals a season, like Harry Kane numbers, but he’s playing in his favoured position through the middle which is where he played for Everton and where he plays for Brazil,» Redknapp told Sky Sports. «Ange Postecoglou does something with players that is incredible.
