Richarlison could be set for an awkward moment if the Tottenham Hotspur star returns from injury against West Ham United on Thursday night. The Brazilian international has been sidelined after undergoing surgery on a groin issue, with Ange Postecoglou revealing that the former Everton frontman could be involved in training ahead of Sunday's Premier League fixture against Manchester City.
Speaking to SPURSPLAY, the Spurs head coach said: «Richy's (Richarlison) probably the closest out of the ones who have been missing, so looking to get him involved in training hopefully tomorrow (Saturday) and then we'll see how he is as he's obviously missed a fair bit. He's done his rehab really well and he feels good which is important.
»He's sort of the next cab off the ranks in terms of the injured guys." If Richarlison does return to full fitness ahead of his side's game against West Ham, all eyes will be on how the 26-year-old interacts with Hammers striker Michail Antonio.
The Jamaican attacker joked about the Spurs star's goal record last season, telling the Footballer's Football Podcast: «He's scored four times this season. Three of the times he has been offside.
»He has taken his top off four times this season." On a later podcast, Antonio revealed that Richarlison hadn't taken too kindly to the comments.
The West Ham forward said that teammate Lucas Paqueta, who plays with Richarlison for Brazil, told him that the Tottenham man won't shake his hands before their next encounter. «Lucas is like ‘it’s just how he is, Mickey (Richarlison). I told him that’s how you are,» Antonio continued.
