Ange Postecoglou might just have found one solution to Tottenham's big January problem
Tottenham Hotspur got back to winning ways with their dominant victory over Newcastle United and Ange Postecoglou will have taken plenty from his team's performance for the weeks ahead.
Spurs are looking to build up some momentum again ahead of a January schedule that will bring FA Cup matches, a brief winter break, Premier League games, returning players from injury but also the departure of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr to the Africa Cup of Nations and captain Son Heung-min to the Asian Cup.
Son was in fine form against Newcastle, providing two assists and a goal to take his tally to 10 in the Premier League this season. However, Postecoglou did at least get one boost ahead of the South Korean's departure next month to the tournament in Qatar with the injury-free Richarlison returning and impressing through the centre of the attack.
The Brazilian scored twice in an all-action performance and it showed that at least Postecoglou will have a central striker to cover for Son in that role, if Richarlison can now steer clear of further injury woes. His return to the middle means Son's absence can instead be absorbed as best possible by the remaining fit and available wingers with Manor Solomon also on the road to recovery.
