Just looking so much sharper and freer in his play after finally going under the knife in November on a long-standing groin issue, the 26-year-old was more like his old self.
Question marks have surrounded Richarlison succeeding at Tottenham throughout his short spell in north London going on his struggles on the pitch. However, he did demonstrate to everyone just what he can offer in the big win over Newcastle.
Perhaps a surprise for some that he was brought into the Tottenham XI so soon after making his return from injury, it was certainly a major shock for many that he operated in the central role in the front three and Son Heung-min shifted out to the left. It did pay off, though, with Ange Postecoglou explaining exactly why he chose to do that when speaking to the media after the game.
«Richy's healthy now and I think that's his best position, through the middle,» said the 58-year-old. «With Sonny, looking at the last few weeks, most of our chances and opportunities have fallen to the wide players.
