Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Ivan Perisic has joined Croatian side HNK Split on loan until the end of the season.
The winger has been out of action since September after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury inSpurs training. He underwent surgery and is now looking to step up his rehabilitation with the hope of being fit enough to feature in this summer's European Championships.
He has beenlinked with a return to his home nation and his first-ever club throughout the January window. The player hopes to make his return towards the end of the season and prove his fitness before the Euros, the move will bring an end to his time at Spurs with the 34-year-old out of contract at the end of the season.
Perisic appeared in each of Spurs' first six games of the season before picking up the injury, providing assists in the win over Sheffield United and the Carabao Cup clash against Fulham. He arrived at the club on a free transfer from Inter back in the summer of 2022, and has made a total of 50 appearances in a Tottenham shirt, scoring once and providing 14 assists.
Speaking earlier this month, Ange Postecoglou admitted that it was likely that Perisic had played his final game for the club. «He's working hard to be fair to Ivan. He's obviously got some national team commitments he wants to get back to as soon as possible,» he said. «Again, he's been a significant loss for us
“I thought this year he was going to be a really significant contributor because of his experience and we saw that in the first few games because of the way he impacted games, but yeah, he won't...he's unlikely to play for us again.»
