Trevoh Chalobah's move to Bayern Munich has collapsed with the German transfer deadline passing.
The 24-year-old wanted to move to the Allianz Arena today with personal terms having been verbally agreed with the Bundesliga champions, who are managed by Thomas Tuchel. Chelsea, though, were not keen on any move for Chalobah being on loan and would rather have sold the defender for £50million – something Bayern did not want.
Therefore the transfer collapsed and at the moment, it looks as if Chalobah will stay at Stamford Bridge. However, that could all change and football.london understands Nottingham Forest have shown a key interest in signing the centre-back before the 11pm (UK time) deadline.
It is understood that when Chelsea were negotiating with Forest for attacker Brennan Johnson last month, the idea of Steve Cooper's side signing Chalobah was floated. Forest have contacted Chelsea and Chalobah's representatives today over a permanent move for the defender.
Meanwhile, Chelsea and Burnley have agreed on an initial loan deal for Ian Maatsen to return to Turf Moor. Any deal for the 21-year-old Dutchman would be an initial loan deal with an obligation to make it permanent for a fee in excess of £30m.
Maatsen, however, has not agreed personal terms yet with the Clarets. football.london was told earlier on Friday afternoon that Burnley have been in continuous dialogue with Maatsen and his entourage to try and persuade him to return to the club he spent the 2022/23 season at.
