Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney insists Erik ten Hag is doing an 'okay' job at Old Trafford after defeating Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.
MEN Sport reported this week that Sir Jim Ratcliffe was not fully convinced by Ten Hag and was weighing up whether to change managers at the end of the season. It is understood winning the FA Cup and finishing in the top four could be enough to buy the Dutchman more time at United.
Ten Hag managed to take a step closer towards the first objective on Wednesday night as the Reds beat Forest 1-0 at the City Ground thanks to a late Casemiro header. The result sets up a tantalising FA Cup quarter-final with Liverpool next month.

After the game, Rooney was asked by Gary Lineker on Match of the Day for his verdict on Ten Hag so far. The 38-year-old replied: "A lot has been made of Ten Hag and his position at the football club because of the position of the club with the new owners and [Sir Jim] Ratcliffe coming in, but I think he’s been doing okay.
"The result against Fulham was disappointing and I think he’s doing okay. We’re starting to see a bit more consistency from Manchester United and today’s result was massive in terms of staying in the cup.
"I think it will be time to bring players in during the summer and really go again next season." One potential replacement being weighed up by Ratcliffe is Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi.
