Amid reports of a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations boss being offered a new deal by one of the continent's biggest teams, a legend of the side has insisted the coach does not deserve it.
Jose Peseiro led Nigeria to an outstanding 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, guiding them to a second-place finish after losing 2-1 to Ivory Coast in the final of the continental showpiece.

His contract, however, came to an end last week, with the manager releasing a statement confirming he had officially parted ways with the national side.
For his efforts, the manager, along with the players, is said to have been rewarded a flat as well as a piece of land in a region close to the country's capital, Abuja.
The Nigeria Football Federation, meanwhile, are reportedly reluctant to let the Portuguese tactician go. It is said the association has tabled a R1.5 million-a-month offer to his representatives in a bid to keep Peseiro in the helm until 2026.
However, with it claimed that a potential deal is being negotiated while the coach also sifts through other offers he has on the table, former Nigeria striker Segun Odegbami believes the AFCON silver medallist is not capable of leading the side to continental glory.

"For 22 months, he [Peseiro] did his best for Nigeria, but his best was obviously not good enough when the team was preparing to go for AFCON," he said on Arise TV, via Soccernet.ng.
"But through the four weeks of AFCON, there was relief because the team came up, started to do fairly well and got to the finals.
