Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta sends Liverpool and Man City title race message after Brentford win

Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal boss, has sent a clear message to Liverpool and Man City after his team's thrilling last-minute win ramped up the pressure on their rivals as they go toe-to-toe in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners knew they could climb to the top spot if they beat Brentford at their home ground, the Emirates Stadium, on Saturday. And even though it was a close call, they managed to beat the Bees 2-1.

Arsenal bounced back from a big mistake by Aaron Ramsdale that almost ruined their day thanks to a late winner from Kai Havertz. Now Arteta says he is feeling pretty chilled about watching the two title rivals go head-to-head on Sunday, especially now that Arsenal is back at the top of the Premier League.

After the match, Arteta had a chat with Sky Sports [via The Mirror]. He said: "A really tough opponent to play and we had the game under control at 1-0 but we conceded and then had a beautiful challenge in the second half. We were so aggressive and got rewarded.

"Mistakes are part of football and it's how you react to that. I'm so happy for Aaron [Ramsdale] and I'm so happy that we won the game. You have to win every game with the level of Manchester City and Liverpool. There is no space for slip ups. We really had to respond to the challenge in the second half and show our maturity. We were emotionally really mature.
