Jeff Stelling has slammed Ben White for an image shared on social media during the international break.
White made headlines a fortnight ago when he rejected the chance to join the England camp for their friendlies against Brazil and Belgium over the current break.
The Arsenal defender did so after he had reportedly clashed with England assistant Steve Holland at the Qatar World Cup, which led to him leaving the camp during the tournament.
He has not played for his country since, and appeared to rule himself out of contention for a place at Euro 2024 by turning down a potential call-up this time around.
On Saturday, the day the Three Lions lost 1-0 to Brazil in their first defeat at Wembley for 21 games, White's wife, Milly Adams, shared a snap of the two playing cards in Dubai, and Stelling took exception to the photo.
'He decided he didn't want to play for England in the games against Brazil and Belgium,' Stelling said on TalkSPORT. 'He has been enjoying his time there by the looks of it.
'While his England team-mates suffered a 1-0 defeat to Brazil, Ben was enjoying a game of Uno and soaking up the sun on a beach in Dubai.
'I have a bit of sympathy for people who play cards, but not Ben. What are you doing?
'What are you doing posting the fact that you are in Dubai playing cards? You decided not to play for England, that's fine. Your prerogative, just let the boys get on with it.'
White and Adams appeared to be at Kyma Beach, in Dubai, with the pair lounging on chairs on the sand with a picturesque pool and backdrop behind them.
Southgate, meanwhile, denied White's apparent rift with Holland was the reason he rejected the call-up.
