Kai Havertz has had an interesting first season at Arsenal and it is far from over. A surprise signing in the summer somewhat — especially with the associated fee and the challenging label of being yet another player signed from Chelsea in combination with his below-expectation form whilst in west London.
However, the German international has been impactful in what is proving to be another pivotal season for Mikel Arteta’s side as they chase success in both the Champions League and Premier League. Be it match-winning goals against Brentford and Brighton or the equaliser at Luton Town before another late win, the £65million man has made his mark.
However, a recent report by Fichajes claimed that Havertz has supposedly “exhausted the patience of the Gunners, who will seek his transfer next summer.” This is wildly far from the mark.
Havertz has become a popular figure inside the Arsenal dressing room, football.london understands. He and fellow summer addition Declan Rice have used their new arrival status to bond and his penalty at Bournemouth earlier in the season represented a serious show of unity from the squad during a difficult time.
Arteta has started Havertz in 16 of the 23 games he has been available for including over the likes of Leandro Trossard and Eddie Nketiah in the most important game of the season a couple of weeks ago against Liverpool. Havertz failed to score but was influential in the game too and his run and saved effort led to Bukayo Saka’s opening goal.
He started over the pair again when facing Liverpool in the FA Cup and assisted Gabriel Martinelli in the 1-0 win over Manchester City last year. These are not instances of a player that has exhausted the patience of his manager.
