The pitch at Dundela’s Wilgar Park home does not meet the Premiership’s dimension regulations
I must admit it took the wind out of my sails a bit when I heard the news that Championship leaders Dundela are not eligible to play in the Premiership next season due to the size of their pitch.
I still see four potential winners of the Championship — the Duns, Bangor, Institute or Portadown — however the fact that Dundela will not get the chance to entertain top-flight opposition at The Hen Run every other week next season must come as a huge disappointment to everyone at the club, especially the players who, assuming they win the title, would have earned that right on the field of play.
