Mario Lemina has sent a heartfelt message to his father, telling him to 'keep pushing' after revealing that he was in hospital.
The Wolves midfielder was the star of the show as Gary O'Neil's side ran out 2-1 winners over Chelsea on Christmas Eve.
Before forgetting to collect his player of the match award by Sky Sports, Lemina paid tribute to his father, saying: “He’s been in the hospital for two months. He’s struggling.
«I wanted to be around him, but I need to do my work. But dad, keep pushing and we are all together.”
Lemina's strike was his third in his last eight Premier League games, a tally that previously took him 101 top flight appearances to reach.
As well as Lemina's opener, Matt Doherty scored the crucial second goal for Wolves before Christopher Nkunku's late header.
But speaking after the game, Lemina paid tribute to the Wolves support for getting them over the line.
He said: „The support we've got here[at Molineux] is fantastic. We push all of the time.
“We are struggling away, but we are really happy to deliver this performance in front of our supporters. Amazing.»
Doherty added: «I've managed to nick a goal at the end, which was very important.
»I tend to have a knack for being in the right place at the right time.
«Ever since we've come back to the Premier League our record against top six teams is quite good.
»The atmosphere is great and we feel comfortable on our own pitch."
