Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds weren't in Chapel Hill to watch Wrexham lose to the Blues in a pre-season friendly.
Wrexham owner Rob McElhenney has sent a message to Chelsea online after missing his side's 5-0 pre-season defeat on Thursday morning.
New signing Christopher Nkunku also got himself on the scoresheet after a rapid counter-attack whilst Conor Gallagher and Ben Chilwell finished the game off with late goals.
It is a positive result for Chelsea in USA after a horrendous 2022 pre-season that marred all preparations for last term. It is the simplest task ahead of them on paper though with Premier League rivals Brighton and Fulham to come as well as a showdown with Borussia Dortmund.
Phil Parkinson's side managed as many shots at goal as their opponents and conceded to each one they faced on target in reply. Their seven corners were the only in the match as well.
It is reason to be positive for the Welsh side and McElhenney, who missed the match alongside fellow co-owner Ryan Reynolds, is hopeful of a rapid rise through the divisions.
"Thank you @ChelseaFC!!!! Hopefully we’ll see you again in 5 years or so :)" he tweeted after the match. That would mean three promotions in the next five years, an unlikely but not impossible outcome. Similar moves up the EFL have lead to Premier League sides coming from nowhere in recent times and Wrexham's financial advantage makes them a real threat to rivals.
Whilst it may well be a bit longer before the sides next meet, cup draws do make it possible in the near future, Wrexham continue to be the darlings of world football and their owners are on the charm offensive with Todd Boehly here.
