It has been a week of mixed fortunes for Tottenham Hotspur's loan army of players as they took on matches across the Premier League, Football League and Europe.
Spurs have 13 players on loan in this second half of the season at clubs in England, Turkey, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and Italy. In Croatia, there is also Ivan Perisic who joined Hajduk Split on loan until the end of his Tottenham contract this summer and will then play for the Croatian team next season. The 35-year-old is not expected back from his cruciate ligament injury until April at the earliest but we will provide updates on a player who has started to work on the grass as recent social media posts show.
Here's how the 12 other Spurs loan players got on over the past week:
Alejo Veliz made his debut for Sevilla in their 0-0 draw at Valencia in La Liga, following his return from the knee injury he suffered against Bournemouth in December. The 20-year-old striker came off the bench in the 86th minute and could have had a dream start only for his late header to fly straight at the goalkeeper from Oliver Torres' cross.
The young forward had earned praise from Sevilla coach Quique Sanchez Flores ahead of the match, with the former Watford boss saying: «Alejo Veliz has trained in an extraordinary way this week. He is tremendously hungry and does everything we ask of him. He will surely be ready for [the game]. He’s a boy who is going to mark a clear path of what the team needs again.»
The 20-year-old will now be looking to build on his start to life in Spain with more minutes and hopefully goals ahead of his return to Hotspur Way in the summer.
