Mauricio Pochettino handed Armando Broja his first Premier League appearance since November 2022 towards the end of Chelsea's clash with Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon. The 22-year-old striker ruptured the cruciate ligament in his right knee during a mid-season friendly against the Villans last season, and now he's finally available for selection again.
Broja's return comes as a huge boost for the Blues, who have scored just five goals in six English top-flight games this term. With Nicolas Jackson set for a spell on the sidelines too due to suspension, Pochettino will be hoping that the Albania international hits the ground running.
After the Fulham clash, the west Londoners have a difficult run of fixtures against the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle and Brighton. However, Broja won't be the only player returning from the treatment room in the coming weeks.
So, with that being said, football.london have taken a look at all the latest Chelsea injury news...
Badiashile missed the opening weeks of the season with a hamstring injury picked up at the end of the 2022/23 season, but a return seems close. The club's official social media account posted a video of Badiashile back in training action on Monday, though Pochettino confirmed he would not be ready to return just yet.
Now, Nathan Gissing reports that the Frenchman has taken another step backwards in his recovery and is not longer training with his teammates. On Friday, Pochettino confirmed the reports.
What Pochettino has said: «Yeah [he had a setback] but it was in a different muscle but it was minor, it was small.»
Expected return date: Fulham (A) — Monday, October 2
