Arsenal and Chelsea placed on red alert as huge Ivan Toney January transfer prediction made

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has admitted he expects Arsenal and Chelsea transfer target Ivan Toney to still be at the club by the end of the January window. Both London clubs have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old who is set to make his footballing return in mid-January after serving an eight-month ban for betting breaches.

The Gunners' interest in Toney has somewhat decreased following their priority switch to signing a midfielder along with links to Napoli star Victor Osimhen emerging. However, at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are considering making a big-money move to sign Toney from Brentford in January, as football.london understands.

Throughout his absence, Toney has posted numerous updates on his work away from the pitch on Instagram showing he is in peak physical condition despite having not played a competitive game since May. He has been in training since September with a playing return also coming in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Serie A side Como where Toney was on the scoresheet.

Last season Toney scored 20 Premier League goals, helping the Bees finish ninth while also earning his first cap for England. In his absence, the goal scoring responsibilities have fallen to Bryan Mbeumo with the 24-year-old on target in Brentford's 2-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier this season.
