Arsenal have issued a stern warning to fans ahead of their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium, stating that any supporter found selling their ticket to Bayern fans will face a ban. The German side's supporters have been barred from attending the first leg of the quarter-final by UEFA following incidents of fireworks being thrown onto the pitch during away games at Copenhagen and Lazio earlier in the tournament.
This has raised concerns that German fans may attempt to gain entry by purchasing tickets in the home end. Arsenal are keen to avoid a repeat of the 2017 scenes when they faced FC Koln, where thousands of away fans bought tickets from club members and ticket resale websites, leading to violent pre-match scenes and an hour-long delay to kick-off.
A significant group of Koln fans also clashed with stewards, police and home supporters. To prevent a similar situation, Arsenal have implemented measures to monitor ticket sales and transfers.
The club has not sold tickets to any new members who registered for the ticket ballot after March 11, before the draw was made. Furthermore, season-ticket holders can only transfer tickets via the club's ticket transfer service to a recipient whose account was created before that date.
In a message to the fans, Arsenal stated: «There is additional risk associated with this game, because Bayern Munich are not permitted an away allocation. Any season-ticket holder or Arsenal member's seat found to be in possession of an away fan will be suspended indefinitely.»
