Arsenal could be forced to pay a whopping £1.24million a month if they are to land Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.
The Gunners and Liverpool are among the European clubs said to be in the battle to sign the France talisman. The 25-year-old is out of contract with the Parisiens in the summer, and from January 1, the former AS Monaco striker could enter negotiations with teams overseas over a pre-contract agreement which would see the French club lose him for free.
Jurgen Klopp's side are frequently in the conversation but La Liga giant Real Madrid are thought to be the frontrunners in the race to acquire him. The Anfield club missed out on his signature in 2017 when he signed for PSG, and then again in 2022 when he pulled out a move to the Bernabeu in favour of a stay in Ligue 1.
Arsenal have been facing a mini-attacking crisis in recent weeks as their barren run in front of goal continues. They dominated West Ham United and then Liverpool in the FA Cup but failed to find the back of the net in either match, while they suffered a comeback defeat to Fulham in between as they endured three straight defeats.
Despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Mbappe's future, the Parisiens remain relaxed about his situation, despite another tug-of-war with Real Madrid in the offing.
According to figures released by The Telegraph, the forward is set to make huge wage demands, as well as a hefty signing-on fee. It has been claimed that he will look to score an annual salary of £64.5million, which will land him an eye-watering £1.24million-a-week.
