Thomas Frank has urged the Premier League to act quickly and impose points deductions before the end of the season on clubs found guilty of breaking Financial Fair Play rules. Everton's penalty for breaching financial rules was reduced from 10 points to six following an appeal earlier this week.
The Goodison Park club were immediately docked 10 points in November for breaking profit and sustainability rules in the three-year period to 2021/22 — as a result of the reduction, Sean Dyche's side moved from 17th to 15th in the table. Everton, however, now face an anxious wait after being charged in January along with Nottingham Forest for alleged breaches in their accounts for 2022/23.
And although that case must be heard by April, any appeal could result in the outcome of the process being delivered at the end of the season. And Frank has called on the Premier League to impose point deductions before the end of the season.
He said: «It seems likely that Nottingham Forest and Everton will get a points deduction. They will appeal that, but what is important is that we need to know what that is before the end of the season.
»For me, it's very simple-you break the rules and you face a sanction. End of discussion. That's the society we live in and the football world we live in.
«The Premier League need to find out when they can announce the points deductions before they are appealed. We then need that answer before the end of the season.»
