Carney Chukwuemeka has been dealt a major setback on his mission to become a regular in the Chelsea starting lineup. The 19-year-old midfielder suffered an injury after equalising for the Blues against West Ham on Sunday afternoon.
Just moments after a collision with Emerson Palmieri, Chukwuemeka fell to the ground holding his left knee and, after a lengthy stoppage for medical attention, he limped off. football.london understands that Chukwuemeka had a scan on Monday, with the club waiting to learn the full extent of the injury from the results. Now, Chelsea have issued an official statement on the teenage sensation's knock.

football.london understands that Chukwuemeka is expected to be out for six-weeks. With an international break in September and October, the youngster may only miss five or six games for Chelsea and potentially return for the Blues' blockbuster tie against Arsenal on October 21 – depending on his rehabilitation.
Chukwuemeka started each of the Blues' first two Premier League games this season, and he's expected to continue playing a major role in the starting lineup upon his return. Earlier this month, the Englishman revealed his personal targets for the campaign, his role in the side and working with Pochettino.
