Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), also known as Ethiopia Nigd Bank, beat Fasil Kenema 4-2 in a six-goal thriller on Friday to return to the top of the Ethiopia Premier League log.
St George also returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Sidama Coffee to move back into third place.
It was a cagey first half between St George and Sidama with no goals at halftime.
St George scored in the 53rd through Amanuel Terfu who is emerging as their top striker following the departure of Abel Yalew.
In the day's other fixture, it was Fasil who drew first blood against CBE with a 10th- minute goal from former St George star, Amanuel Gebremichael.
CBE equalised 17 minutes later through another former St George striker, Addis Gidey.
Fasil were soon two goals to the good when Shimeket Gugsa scored in the 38th minute to give them a 2-1 lead.
However, Caleb Amankwah restored parity for CBE on 42 minutes, and it was enough to take them to the break tied at 2-2.
The second half was a different game with CBE on the ascendancy, and they soon made their possession count with Binyam Getachew on target in the 55th minute as CBE raced to a 3-2 lead.
Dawit Yohannes put the game beyond Fasil Kenema in the third minute of added time to give CBE a well-earned 4-2 win.
