It’s hard to think of a minority investor in a football club that has attracted as much attention as Sir Jim Ratcliffe at Manchester United.
Having acquired 27.7 per cent of the Old Trafford side in a £1.3bn deal that was approved by the Premier League last month, the majority owners, the Glazer family, have handed over control of football operations and club strategy with regards to Old Trafford’s future to British billionaire Ratcliffe and his INEOS team.
Following regulatory approval having been received, Ratcliffe has for the past week been making himself available for media interviews to set out his vision for what United can look like in the future, attempting to banish what has been a relatively dismal decade for the 13-time Premier League winners, who are now 11 years without a top-flight title.

Of the comments made about the grand plans for the future, among them was the desire to ‘knock Liverpool’ off their perch, echoing a line from former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2003 when speaking about the Reds.
Ratcliffe branded both Liverpool and Manchester City as the "enemy”, telling the Daily Star: "We have a lot to learn from our noisy neighbour (City) and the other neighbour (Liverpool).
