Washington signs
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Deivid Washington from Santos, as the Blues continue to be active in the summer transfer window. The club have made a number of transfers in addition to completing an overhaul of their first team squad.
Washington follows in the footsteps of Angelo Gabriel who also joined from Santos and has since went on loan to Strasbourg after joining Mauricio Pochettino's squad for pre-season in the United States. The 18-year-old arrives at Stamford Bridge in a deal that could reach in the region of £17million.
The forward said his goodbyes to Santos on Tuesday after netting six times in 22 games for the Brazilian side in 2023 and has signed a seven-year contract, with the option of a further year. Upon signing Washington said: «I can't wait to make my debut here at such a big club with loads of goals and assists.»

Following plenty of speculation over Eden Hazard's future, it has finally been revealed where the 32-year-old stands nearly 12-weeks after his departure from Real Madrid. On June 3, the Spanish giants confirmed that he would leave the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the month despite still having a year left on his contract.
Since becoming a free agent, there has been lots of speculation over Hazard's future – the possibility of even retiring has been mooted by various outlets. But, it appears that the Belgian isn't short on options as he prepares for the new season.
