Cole Palmer fires one-word Chelsea message after Man United heroics and Reece James agrees

Even those Chelsea players not involved in the dramatic 4-3 win over Manchester United on Thursday night were left stunned. Two goals in less than 90 seconds from Cole Palmer after the 100th minute handed Mauricio Pochettino a much-needed — if not deserved — victory.

The Blues were on the brink of one of the most damaging defeats all season having blown a 2-0 lead against their rivals but turned it around in spectacular style under the lights. Palmer's third, a deflected strike off Scott McTominay having found acres of space in the box from a short-ish corner, sparked sheer pandemonia.

Pochettino let out his biggest celebration yet whilst substitutes ran onto the field and chased Palmer across the grass. Fans leapt around the stands in delight and shock. The away end left in despair having been celebrating what looked to be yet another three points at SW6 just moments earlier.

For Chelsea it is a result that only leaves them 10th in the table but with the chance to shut the gap on United to just two points if they win their game in hand. For Palmer, it means he has now matched Eden Hazard's best scoring season in the Premier League for the club.

Taking to Instagram afterwards, Palmer's teammate Romeo Lavia was left nearly speechless. «Cole Palmer.» he wrote on his story without context. Albeit none was needed.

Ben Chilwell was slightly more descriptive. Having missed the game through illness, he wrote, «What a game [laughing face and heart eyes emoji]». Levi Colwill simply posted three happy faces to his own story.
