Darren Bent has been left stunned after Chelsea star Cole Palmer was compared to a key member of Arsenal's legendary Invincibles side.
The ex-Tottenham striker — a known Gunners fan — couldn't believe what he was hearing after the attacking midfielder was likened to Dennis Bergkamp by a caller.
Widely regarded as one of the finest players to grace the Premier League, the Non-Flying Dutchman won three top-flight titles during his 11-year spell at Highbury between 1995-2006.
Inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame in 2021, Bergkamp chipped in with 120 goals and 103 assists in 422 games for the north Londoners.
Famed for his technical abilities and THAT goal away at Newcastle, a statue of the ex-Ajax maestro sits proudly outside the Emirates Stadium displaying one of his breathtaking first touches.
And one Chelsea fan believes Palmer, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City in a £40million deal last summer, possesses the same traits as Bergkamp.
Speaking on talkSPORT Drive, Chelsea fan Nick called up to wax lyrical over Palmer, with his bold statement stunning hosts Bent and Andy Goldstein.
He said: "Cole Palmer is just one of those players that comes along — forget that I'm a Chelsea fan — I'm an England fan too.
«He's just one of those special players that comes along not very often, and I hate to use hyperbole, but I just think… Dennis Bergkamp.»
Without even giving the caller a chance to give his reasoning, Bent interjected: «Yeah, you went too far. You ruined it. You ruined the call!
»The call sounded incredible until you said that!"
With Bent and Goldstein in fits of laughter, they proceeded to start the conversation with Nick again, who found the funny side of his comparison.
