Dele Alli might have already played his last game for Everton, which could come as a £10million blow for his former club Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs are set to receive a £10m payment once Dele makes 20 appearances for Everton. He's currently played 13 games, but it is hihgly unlikely he'll hit the 20-game mark, something Tottenham tried to renegotiate in early December.
The north London club suggested lowering the payment to £8m if the number of required appearances was reduced. But now, Everton might avoid the deal entirely as they try to manage their finances after losing 10 points for breaking profit and sustainability rules in November.
Dele's contract with the Goodison Park side is set to end this season and it doesn't look like it will be extended. It's not clear if Spurs would get compensation if Dele doesn't play 20 matches.
The relationship between the two clubs got tense in November when Everton accused Spurs of taking advantage of their financial troubles by being tough in transfer negotiations. Everton said that Tottenham's refusal to pay £80m for Richarlison, who was signed for £60m, was due to 'PSR calculation difficulties.'
Dele has not played for the Toffees since August 2022, as he needed groin surgery at the end of January due to another injury. He last participated in a competitive match in February 2023 when he was with Besiktas for a Turkish Super Lig game against Antalyaspor.

Everton have decided to give Dele some «time and space» to recover. They even allowed him to watch Tottenham defeat Brighton 2-1 last weekend.
