Arsenal aren't messing around. Mikel Arteta's side have not only moved into second place — although they have played a game more than Manchester City in third — but they have done it in style.
After 25 games they have scored two more than they did at the same stage last year, and have smashed in 21 unforgiving strikes in the five matches played since the winter break. As they still get labelled as outsiders to this three-horse raceit has felt like a timely reminder of just how relentless this Arsenal juggernaut is.
On this occasion, they put relegation fodder Burnley to the sword. Unlike against West Ham last week, where they dominated but waited 35 minutes to let the scoreline know. There was no such lag at Turf Moor on Saturday.Martin Odegaard struck before five minutes were on the clock and then the rest just flowed.
Bukayo Saka proved why calls of him not yet being world-class were about as true as Arsenal still being behind in the title race whilst Leandro Trossard made a case for being the best centre-forward at the club. Kai Havertz bagged a confidence-boosting goal ahead of European excursions in mid-week, and then everyone watched as City slipped up against Chelsea later on in the day.

Nathan Ridley was keen to pick out a player that may have gone under the radar. He wrote: «The first 12 months of Jakub Kiwior's Arsenal career weren't easy, to say the least. A lack of game-time and being forced to play in an unnatural position at left-back meant it was hard going for the Poland international.
