As he head into a new DStv Premiership season, we take a look at the current best marks in South Africa’s topflight, with two clubs dominating the records set down the years.

Most title wins in a row and most overall

Most points in a 30-game season
Sundowns looked well on course to break the record for most league points in a 30-game season in the last campaign, but too many draws in the closing few weeks meant they finished with 70, one short. Can they, or anyone else, top that mark this term? The most points accumulated in any season in South Africa is 75 points, a record Sundowns jointly hold with Kaizer Chiefs from the 1998/99 campaign that had 34 matches per team.
Most wins in a season
In the PSL era overall, this mark is 23 held by Sundowns, Chiefs and Manning Rangers, while in a 30-game season The Brazilians hold the record with 22, set in 2015/16. There is very little margin for error with this one and again Sundowns looked on target last year until they drew six of their last nine league games and ended with 21 wins.
Most wins in succession
This was a mark that Sundowns set last season when they went on a run of 15 wins in a row after Rulani Mokwena was handed the sole coaching reins. That beat the previous best mark of 11, also by Sundowns under Gordon Igesund in 2006/07. This is another tough to conquer, does any side have the ability to basically go half a DStv
