A World Cup winner has slammed Eden Hazard's failed spell at Real Madrid and insisted he let down the club's supporters with his off-field antics.
The 33-year-old, who announced his retirement from professional football last October, made the move to the Spanish capital from Chelsea in 2019 in a deal that had the potential to exceed £150m. His move to Madrid came after a scintillating final season at Stamford Bridge, in which he scored 21 goals on the way to helping the Blues lift the Europa League.
However, his time in La Liga failed to live up to the hype as he was plagued by injury and managed just seven goals in 76 appearances before leaving as a free agent last summer.
Last week, Hazard lifted the lid on his disastrous spell at the Santiago Bernabeu and admitted he didn't think he «fit in» with the club's culture because he refused to stick to a strict training regime during the off-season as he liked «barbecues and rose wine».
Offering his take on Hazard's revelations about his stint in Madrid, Christophe Dugarryhit back at the Belgian and insisted the club's record signing he should have taken more accountability for his off-field actions.
«It’s very easy to say this now but it should have been said before,» Dugarry, who the 1998 World Cup with France, told RMC Sport. «It’s when you sign your multi-million contract that you should tell the president that you’re going out that evening.
