Enzo Fernandez has committed his future to Chelsea following the Blues' 3-1 win over Crystal Palace. The 23-year-old midfielder, who has been briefly linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge recently, scored the Blues' third and final goal against Roy Hodgson's side on Monday night.
In the dying embers of the clash at Selhurst Park, Fernandez put the final nail in Palace's coffin with a brilliantly engineered strike. Cole Palmer threaded the eye of the needle, putting the Argentina international through on goal with only Daniel Muñoz and the goalkeeper, Dean Henderson, standing in his way.
Fernandez dropped the shoulder, cutting the ball back onto his right foot before feinting and finding the top corner left-hand corner. He wheeled away in celebration, beelining for the away support – then as his Chelsea teammates began to disperse for the restart, the Argentinean was heard shouting 'VAMOS' at the top of his lungs.
He has now found the net in each of his previous two games for the Blues since rumours – which have since been shutdown – suggested that his future was uncertain. Speaking to ESPN, Fernandez' agent insisted that his client is committed to Chelsea.
«This [the rumours] came out of the London press, I don't understand why,» said Uriel Perez. «Both Enzo and I are very clear on what this project is, which was transmitted to me on the day of the World Cup final.
»They [Chelsea executives] were very clear that it was a project that was going to take time, especially from a sporting standpoint because they were going to change the squad, They were going to try to bring the best youth players and one of them was Enzo.
