Erling Haaland injury forces Man City striker to be sent home ahead of Liverpool clash
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland could possibly be ruled out of facing Liverpool after picking up an injury on international duty.
Haaland has been in prolific form, once again, for Pep Guardiola’s side, scoring 17 goals in 18 games across all competitions. City are preparing to face the Reds in their next Premier League game after the intentional break but could be without Haaland when the title rivals face off at the Etihad.
The 23-year-old picked up a foot injury during Norway’s 2-0 friendly win over the Faroe Islands on Thursday after coming on as a second half substitute. He has subsequently been ruled out of Norway’s final Euro 2024 qualifier against Scotland on Sunday, which could potentially boost Liverpool's chances of recording an important result over City, next weekend.

In a statement, the Norway national team doctor, Ola Sand, has shared his thoughts on Haaland’s foot issue: “The injury is not serious, but he is in so much pain and somewhat restricted function that the Scotland game unfortunately comes a little too early.”
Meanwhile, Norway manager Stale Solbakken described Haaland’s injury as “a shame” but will not be calling up a replacement, with Spain and Scotland already securing the top two spots in Group B.
