Everton boss makes 'ruthless' demand ahead of Man United as injury boost confirmed
Everton boss Brian Sorensen has called on his side to be "ruthless" against Manchester United this weekend as they look to build on their statement win against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.
Megan Finnigan's header saw Everton pick up their first three points of the season at Anfield last time out, meaning the Blues sit eighth in the Women's Super League (WSL) table ahead of Sunday's clash at Walton Hall Park. United scored three without reply last time they faced Everton on Merseyside but Sorensen is hopeful his side can use their derby triumph as a catalyst for a strong run of performances in the coming weeks.
"We didn’t want to start (the season) how we did, there’s no way around that," the Dane said, alluding to the Blues' back-to-back defeats against Brighton & Hove Albion and Leicester City. "But we answered that pretty well against Liverpool. We got back on track and now we have a really tough game against United.

"We have to be at our very best to get points but in this league you have to be at your best every single time. If we can get the performance offensively and defensively that we showed against Liverpool I think we have a chance against them. We have to be ruthless at both ends and then maybe we can do something."
Everton's hopes of honing a clinical edge up front have been bolstered by striker Martina Piemonte's return to team training. The Italian missed last weekend's trip across Stanley Park with a knee problem but is now back on the pitch and could be in contention to feature against United on Sunday.
