Everton are approaching a point at which Sean Dyche will have most of his first team options available and that is welcome.
Jack Harrison seeing action for the U21s is a boost and it was great to see Dominic Calvert-Lewin back against Arsenal. That was a poor performance on Sunday and calls for change are justified, though I wouldn’t make many.
Dyche was asked this week about the potential to play Calvert-Lewin and Beto together - I actually think Arnaut Danjuma would be a better option as a support striker but with Harrison unavailable that option isn’t there yet.
I don’t think Everton can switch to two in the middle just yet, and not against a side as technically gifted as this Brentford team. So for me it remains 4-5-1 - I subscribe to the view there was a gameplan against Arsenal, it was just poorly executed. The big question is whether you change the midfield.
