Everton were denied a late share of the spoils at Bournemouth when captain Seamus Coleman accidently put the ball into his own net in stoppage time.
Former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke had headed the hosts ahead only for substitute Beto to fire the visitors level when he capitalised on a collision between home keeper Neto and Chris Mepham but the result leaves the Blues without a win from their last 12 Premier League games, equalling the club record.

Forced into several impressive saves to keep out an early effort from Antoine Semenyo and then Marcus Tavernier after the break before being beaten by Dominic Solanke’s header and there was little he could do for the second as the ball went behind him and into Coleman’s path.

The club captain cruelly chested the ball into his own net from Adam Smith’s late cross after Everton had got themselves level having provided much more positivity down the right flank on his return, especially in the first half and then finding himself sucked in by Marcus Tavernier before the ball fell to Lloyd Kelly – who had just come on – to provide the cross for the first goal.

Switched to left-back due to Vitalii Mykolenko’s illness, he got forward well a couple of times but was caught out of possession when Bournemouth attacked by a series of balls over the top and diagonals and was again the fall guy closest to Solanke when he headed the hosts in front.
