The plan was for him to continue in a consultancy role for a further two years. However, Ragnick admitted he was disappointed by the results of his time in charge, winning 11 of 29 games.
While he was United boss, it was announced that Rangnick had agreed to become manager of Austria. This commitment meant that he did not continue in his consultancy role at United. Instead, he led Austria to qualify for Euro 2024.
