Baby name experts have predicted the top boy and girl names for 2024.
Choosing a name for your child is one of the first big and difficult decisions new parents will make. Some opt for traditional monikers, while others name little ones after older family members.
But other things can start trends, such as popular TV shows, singers, and celebrities. Different names can be more popular in different regions, too.

Kelly Nairne, from pushchair brand Bugaboo, told the ECHO: "Trends in baby names are constantly evolving, with certain baby names making it to the top of the list more than others."
Based on the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) data, the most popular baby names for boys and girls in England and Wales are Noah and Olivia. Noah, meaning rest and repose, replaced the previous year’s headliner, Oliver.
While Olivia, which has an earthy connection, has remained in first place for six years in a row – so there is no doubt we will be seeing this name topping the charts again next year. Some names didn’t make the shortlist this year, with Jack not featured in the top ten since 1996.
But popular choices like Muhammad, Henry, George, Leo, and Harry all remain. In terms of girls’ names, Olivia is proudly followed by Amelia and Isla, with Freya, Florence and Willow also making it in the top ten.
The statistics also showed that mothers aged 35 and above consistently leaned towards more traditional baby names such as Thomas and Arthur. At the same time, younger mothers tended to favour shortened versions such as Tommy and Archie.
