George Elokobi's half-time team talk on Saturday proved that Maidstone United's FA Cup win over Ipswich was no fluke.
The National League South side earned their spot in the FA Cup fifth round after securing a 2-1 victory over Championship high-flyers Ipswich at Portman Road.
Despite facing 38 shots from Kieran McKenna's side, Maidstone went in 1-0 up at the break, leading ex-Wolves star Elokobi to give the biggest team talk of his career ahead of the second half.
In a video posted on the club's social media channels, Elokobi said: “Counter, speed up the counter attacks and speed up the recovery.
“Make sure we go out there as a team – we’ve been a team, that’s why we are here today, because of our togetherness.
“So when we go out there, lads, leave everything out there on that pitch and make sure you enjoy the moment.
“Make sure you enjoy the occasion – win, draw, lose – we, Maidstone United, are all winners. Let’s go!”
While Ipswich equalised early in the second half, Elokobi's words clearly paid off as Sam Corne restored their lead and ultimately led Maidstone towards a fifth round clash with either Sheffield Wednesday or Coventry.
After hearing his team talk on social media, fans were even feeling inspired.
One wrote: «That's the kind of motivational talk I need every Monday morning!»
«What a guy. I mean, what a guy,» said a scond, while a third said: «And not one swear word used, class.»
Meanwhile another added: «Congratulations!!! We all love George!!»
